Line-Silver
A prince who lives for applause. A sister who must lie. A string that could cost them both their lives.
For five hundred years Radiv, prince of the Pilas, has carried a forbidden string of Line-Silver in his boot and forgotten it was there. His sister Juva, heir to the throne, has never been afraid of anything, until a star in the north begins to grow.
When raiders burn the lightning rings, the two are torn apart. Juva walks alone into Taigan, a forest that feeds you on purpose. Radiv rides west as his father's envoy to the Diels: a people of song and colour and perfect manners, who are hiding something on their cliffs.
The Diels are charming. Their gifts are given in private. And somewhere in their city, someone has been patient for a very long time.
Line-Silver is the first book of War of Shallows, a fantasy of giants and singers, loyalty and vengeance, where the funniest moments set up the sharpest knives.
